The opening round of the NFL playoffs start today and 3 of the 4 games are rematches of week 17 matchups. Those games are meaningless now because starting today it’s win or go home. Eagles coach Andy Reid sure knows that, and I’m sure he hasn’t slept all week in an effort to figure out how to finally beat those Cowboys. Here are my picks for round 1, turn in next week for divisional round picks:

Jets @ Bengals -2.5

Cue Paul McCartney and Wings, the Jets will shut down the Bengals again and run their way into the next round. Jets! Ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh ooooh ooh! Jets!

Eagles @ Cowboys -3.5

I have the Eagles covering here, but not winning. This is finally the year the Cowboys win a playoff game. Congrats to Pro Bowler and SI coverman, “The pride of Garfield, NJ” Miles Austin.

Ravens @ Patriots -3

This is payback for the Ravens who lost a close game to the Pats earlier this season after some controversial calls. Everyone is saying how much Wes Welker’s replacement, Julian Edelman, plays just like Welker. We’ll see if he has Welker’s toughness the first time he goes over the middle and is greeted by the brick wall that is Ray Lewis. The Ravens win it and move on.

Packers @ Cardinals +1

The Packers are playing great football right now and are favored on the road. Look for the Pack to keep it going, beating the Cards in a shootout.

Early Super Bowl pick:

Colts vs. Vikings

Get out your Wrangler’s, Brett Favre leads the Vikings to the promised land, beating the Colts 21-17 on Super Sunday. Peyton Manning may have just won a record 4th MVP award, but he can’t do it all. Favre, Peterson, Jared Allen, and company become world champions.
