World Cup Duchisms

Yesterday at 10 AM Eastern standard time, soccer fans all over the world came to a stop when the first game of the 2010 World Cup kicked off.  When host country South Africa took the field against Mexico, the 19th World Cup was underway.  With every good event, there is a good list of Duchisms, and I’m not going to make any exceptions when it comes to the world’s most popular sport.  The following is my list of Team USA Duchisms for this year’s event.  In honor of our great country, the first two are set to classic patriotic American songs.

“This land is your land, this LANDON is our LANDON”- Landon Donovan

Clint “DEMPSEY to shining sea”

DeMarcus Beasley- He’s the Beas knees

Jose “world TORRES”

Jonathan “SPECTOR gadget”- I’ve used it before, but it’s too good to pass up

Edson Buddle- provides the reBUDDLE (could be used for a game-tying goal)

Clarence “only the GOODSON die young”

Bartender- Carlos BOCANEGRA Modelo

Jozy Altidore- JOZY’s on a vacation far away..all the way to South Africa

Marcus Hahnemann- “to be the man, you have to beat the Hahnemann!” WOOOO

Herculez Gomez- this video says it all, HERCULEZ, HERCULEZ!!

Jonathan Bornstein- “Baby he was BORN to run”

Maurice “that thing you EDU” / “Every little thing EDU is magic”

For all those who will be watching the games this year, be on the lookout for a friend of mine who is blessing the rains down in Africa.  Sure there will be 1000’s of people there, but I don’t think you could miss him, nor will the cameramen be able to resist a 200 pound man in an American flag body suit. U-S-A! U-S-A!
